I will say it again and again – Network Marketing is the BEST business training you will ever receive! Even with my business degree, I unequivocally know my years in network marketing have taught me more than I ever learned in the college classroom while being a heck of a lot more fun – AND profitable! I mean, why pay SOMEONE else when you can get paid to learn! This industry can be a great way to develop your skills and for successful people, it can be a stepping stone to bigger and better things. What have I learned in the past and am continuing to learn in the network marketing space that prepared me to open multiple, traditional franchises? Let’s take a look.
- UP TO DATE social media marketing skills. I emphasize UP TO DATE as social media marketing is ever-changing based on platform algorithms and guidelines. As a social seller, I must keep updated on the constant platform changes which teach me how to pivot. Social media marketing is free and is the best marketing hands down! But don’t take just my word for it, social media has a 100% higher lead-to-close rate than outbound marketing. 66% of marketers that spend at least 6 hours on social media per week have gotten more leads. 70% of business-to-consumer marketers have gotten their customers through Facebook. And did I mention social media is FREE?
- Automation: My network marketing experience has taught me the sales process by using automation. Email marketing is powerful and can be automated – your time is money and automation is key! When you have things like email on automation, you have time to do other things. This is the very definition of working smart not hard!
- Like-minded friends. Network Marketing brings me, like-minded friends. In fact, my traditional franchise business partners I met through my network marketing company! They live in Wisconsin while my family lives in South Alabama – NEVER would we have met if it weren’t for this opportunity!
- Income possibilities: Network Marketing taught me about multiple streams of income and residual income. These are definitely not college subjects you will find on the business school syllabus but will open your mind to the different ways you can earn money!

Multiple streams of income mean that you have income from several different sources. If one source stops or is eliminated you can rely on another source. Sounds pretty smart right? Especially in our economy! One example of how Network Marketing provided this for our family: my hubby is a dentist yet suffered a detached retina 5 years ago and it never healed. If it weren’t for our various investments and businesses, we would have been in a stressful situation! We had started our network marketing business 14 years prior and had a beautiful income source completely separate from his dental practice! Because of all we had learned from various experts in the network marketing field – we also had other investments alongside our network marketing business so our income was not an issue with his diagnosis! AND that my friends is how you sleep well at night!
Residual income is income that one continues to receive after the completion of the income-producing work. This is such a gift from an online/ network marketing business. If your network marketing company sells consumable goods – a product that is routinely depleted and needs to be replenished – then you are poised for residual income! Especially when your network marketing company has a repeat purchase rate of 72%, you can do the math and see how you gain customers who continue to jump on your company-provided website and buy again and again a product they absolutely love! I thought residual income meant royalties for musicians and movies – I had no idea the scope of residual income prior to our becoming a social seller!
